Laminate – What is it ?

Laminate flooring is constructed in layers, with a bottom layer of “backing”. The backing is designed to resist moisture that could cause warping like in a natural hardwood product.

Above the backing is a core made from fibreboard and reinforced with a resin to further enhance moisture.

Next is the image layer design, this is where you see the style and color of wood that the laminate is trying to mimic. Not only can laminate mimic hardwood, but it can also mimic metal and stone.

The top layer is the aluminum oxide which finishes the product and allows for a layer of protection.
